| I kind of have an interview! For a job! Doing data entry for contract @ Microsoft for 18 months! It would pay $9 an hour and be full time!
I'm not actually that excited.
Pros:
Full-time
Contract work and thus will not creep up and end up being what I do for the next 15 years, and I won't get laid off in 3 months
Seems easy enough
Can help "get my foot in the door at Microsoft"
Cons:
Redmond is REALLY FREAKING FAR AWAY. Preliminary Metro trip planning looks like an hour and a half either way.
Contract work and thus no benefits, no prospects for improvement, also I am stuck doing it for the next year and a half no matter how miserable I am
Seems mind-killingly tedious
I have absolutely no interest in getting my foot in the door at Microsoft, and this is in fact work that has absolutely nothing to do with anything I'd like to be doing long-term
The pay is a pittance, to the point where I find it seriously doubtful that I would be able to afford a car or an apartment in Redmond to reduce the commute crunch
I only have a kind of preliminary interview right now but they're rushing the hiring process, seems like they want to be done with it by the end of next week or so. So I should sort out my impressions now.
Good opportunity? Is my ambivalence justified or am I being picky? Should I be happy for any work at all and take it? I got the interview through a moderately sketchy website, so does any of this ring alarms for anyone? | Still feeling depressed. Eeyup.
Used the bike to get somewhere yesterday... i.e. to my bank and Gov Cup. Stayed on the sidewalk, but it was nice to have enough confidence to actually go places.
Saturday night was fun. India Palace, silly pictures while walking on the waterfront, and Milk. Good movie.
I'm supposed to be tabling for the Day of Silence with Angles, but I've had a lot of trouble with scheduling. First they sent out a schedule for this week this morning... with me scheduled to table at 11:45... two hours after the e-mail was sent out. I didn't wake up until 12:30, and they didn't mention that it was in Goudy anyway, so I went and looked in the UC and figured it had been shut down due to my excessive lateness. Now in the revised schedule they have me scheduled when I have class tomorrow... not just a little, almost complete overlap.

Halloween spirit = Very little (though I do have a delightfully silly elephant hat).
Fridays are long. I wish this felt more like a holiday than it did. There weren't even any interesting calls at Campus Safety. My knees hurt dreadfully.
